lekking called due to blizzard

When he was auctioning off all of Ralph's garden tools en masse yesterday, the auctioneer pointed out "You'll be wanting that snow shovel by tomorrow morning."

Wife asked if he knew something we didn't.

Well, apparently he did. There was only an inch (2.5cm) on the sidewalks this morning, but by now we are over 10 inches (25cm) and still falling.

Me, I was happy to see the snow on the ground. Meant I was justified in turning off the alarm and going back to sleep early this morning, instead of heading out to check leks.

But yeah, as my one warden and I discussed over the phone, critters'll be dying in this. Just when they thought they'd made it through the winter.

We're in the winter storm watch area, with 10-14" expected by morning. The interstate is already closed heading east, and no travel recommended going west or north.

I couldn't check leks tomorrow morning if I wanted to.

Guess I'll just have to sleep in again...
