Now, this was a good opportunity to test the hand-crank emergency lantern/radio contraption we bought while shopping for clothes for my mother's funeral.

If only we could remember where we put it...

But we still had the cheap handheld models.

The heelers and corgi got to run around the house with their outdoors necklamps on. Okay for the corgi and the little maskless heeler, but the blind masked heeler was just annoyed at the extra weight on her neck, and the disruption of the precious routines that make her life predictable.

And speaking of "precious", two more pieces of the precious, last raspberry pie were enjoyed by eldest son and his girlfriend by coallamplight. I only got one slice left, if you want to come by to share it...

Better hurry.

It was interesting that, looking up the blocks, ours was the only house with even a dim glow coming from any window.

Are we the only ones with a lantern? Or candles? Or flashlights?

Or are we just the only ones in town who didn't have plans to go out on a Friday night?
