I completely forgot about this yesterday. And it was such an important event.

For the morning, anyway.

I ate a chokecherry.

Two, actually.

The big excitement?

They were in our back yard. Growing in our back yard.

I have been waiting a quarter-century for this day.

Literally.

Really.

So what brought this memory back to my consciousness?

Harvesting my first raspberry of the season today.

All the more remarkable because I have totally neglected the berry patch for years, and what grows does so because it wants to, not because I helped it.
