Busy.

Shouldn't even be here doing this, but it's part of my dinner break.

The weekend? Let's see... we presented the colours at a Congressional Hearing on Saturday morning. Not your usual bill of fare for around here. Got to meet my first standing member of Congress. Nice lady, shorter than expected. Kind of butted in and took over part of the ceremony, but expect that from her type. And do not like her politics at all, of course.

Was kinda hoping she would ask if she could do anything to help, so I could suggest resigning and endorsing a Democrat as her replacement. But the offer never came up, so I never found out if I had the balls to say it.

One of our members showed up just after the ceremony was over, and was disappointed to have missed it. There was a change in the time of the hearing which they advised us of on Wednesday (Who changes a meeting on such short notice? Our Representative, apparently.), and he never got the word. One of those split families, where a message left on Mom's answering machine never gets over to Dad's house, where the boy was staying at the time.

Then an auction. Nothing exciting, maybe post notes later, maybe not. Got out with only spending eight dollars.

But most of the time last week and this weekend has been spent reviewing and commenting on part of a land management plan revision. Just finished up nine pages of comments on 170+ pages of document, and need to email them out now.

Then, back to the 90+ page document I've been trying to comment on for months (literally), with tomorrow being the absolute final deadline. And need to prepare all materials related to my bighorn sheep herd for the two-day retreat in the mountains up in the north end of the state. Not to mention packing for the overnight stay.

Still no word on scheduling eldest son's surgery. Phone's been busy most of the weekend, of course, but surgeon's office has wife's cell number, and they didn't call. Don't want to be up in mountains clear across the state, probably away from cell coverage, if they try to get him in early in the week. So still don't know if I'm going north or not, but if so, need to leave in about nine hours.

Some sleep would be nice, too.

And worst of all, got several emails I haven't answered. You know who you are, but I'm most apologetic to the one with a grouse feather. Still thinking of you, just so you know.
