I should be in bed.

Need to take off dark and early tomorrow am. First two hours up to Regional Town by the Wind Rivers to return the fur and hide collections, and to pick up their box of frozen sage grouse wings from this fall. Then another three and a half hour drive to Feral Horse Town, up near the Montana line. For a half-day meeting, followed the next morning by our state-wide wing bee. Where those of us on the sage grouse group sit in a cold garage and read the wings.

Should be easier this year. Looks like fewer wings with the shorter, later hunting season. At least in our areas.

Other folks' wings should be frozen.

Mine aren't. They've been sitting in the large wing barrel on the shady side of the house since the first part of October. Most should be nicely chilled and dried, but there were a couple barrels where the hunters left a lot of meat on some large cock wings.

Great maggot food.

Nothing like having to knock the wiggly white rice off as you read the wings.

Don't know if I'll be visiting the Circle on the Mountain again this trip. Promise pictures if I do.

Should have prepared a token to leave at the circle, just in case.
