remnant colours I suspect most folks are bored with pictures of fall aspens by now. Which, quite soon, will not be a problem. Almost all the leaves are gone. So today's flight to find our telemetered elk was a short cruise in a boring land of greys, tans and browns, and dark greens. A landscape so monotonous that any speck of colour, whether remnant fall leaves, a cabin by the woods, a yellow cattleguard, (By the way... most of the hunters who hunt this part of the country would recognize that particular cattleguard. Know exactly where it is. I don't know how many times I have had hunters, when giving directions to either camps, kill sites, reports of illegal activity, what have you, have started with "You know the cattleguard at...") a hunter's red truck, cattle in a corral, or even a tepee, stood out. Even Aspen Alley was bare, dull and grey. Which sometimes helps to spot elk. There's at least one down there although we never did actually see her. So, when this stand of aspens stands there, their summer's golden coat still intact, I just had to take the shot. |
