popcorn and glow collars So. Children (and adults) are still entranced by the magic of a popcorn popping machine. This year's street dance had a live band, instead of a cowboy and his electronic accompaniment. Certainly more enjoyable music, even if the crowd was only 250 or so. And not many for dancing. Our group's new leader made the executive decision to bump up the prices of our pop and popcorn, to even dollar amounts. Not so much to make more money, but to eliminate the hassle of making change with quarters. A wonderful idea. Not only for us, but I think the party-goers would also just pay their buck and walk away, rather than worrying about getting change. Easier arithmetic for the boys, too. Had a great crew tonight, probably too many of us. But made the task fun and quick. Gotta teach the chef that it's more important to let the boys do things, like making popcorn, and make a few mistakes, than to do it quickly and neatly by yourself. I mean, it's not like we got anyplace else to be, right? Oh, the wife and I agreed, when all was said and done... Rock and roll crowds are better than country western. A lot less swearing, a lot less rowdy, and certainly a lot less trash and broken bottles. We were out of there by 12:25, a record. Even though the band was still playing. And all that means that tonight was again the night for this: Heelers running around in their new glow collars, at one o'clock in the morning. Spotted one Perseid while watching heelers play. Not sure if I really want to go out now and look for more... |
