Yesterday morning, on the fourth and last lek of the morning, with no other leks nearby to check, I parked the rig and sat to watch the birds strut. And tried for photos.

Including shots of one cock who was to the east of us, his tail feathers lighting up in a halo around his body.

Wasn't 'til I got home and put the image on the screen that I noticed that I also got the sun glowing around his feet, as he stomped his way up the rise.

And once, as I leaned over the complaining heelers to shoot out the passenger side of the truck, I looked down at the image frozen on the camera screen to see I wasn't the only one out there in the foothills watching the grouse strut.

Somebody else was curious, as well.
