adrenalectomy So, an update. (Particularly for Trinity, since she asked.) The tests are in, the surgeon consulted. Eldest son has a tumor on one of his adrenal glands. Surgery will be next week, in Central City, although they have yet to tell us when, or even what day. Trip will be at least two nights, perhaps three. Kinda makes it hard to decide if I'm going to the bighorn sheep retreat in the Bighorns on Monday and Tuesday. Basically, son's blood pressure was skyrocketing because of hormones being out of whack. Hormones are out of whack because of extra output from adrenal tumor. Therefore, tumor must go. If biopsy so indicates, the entire gland will be removed. Surgeon is the same guy who did the wife's thyroidectomy, and it looks like the adrenalectomy, should it be necessary, can all be done by laparoscope. Yielding just three small incisions in son's gut. Barring complications, appears to be routine. Our Doc said most physicians see this once in a lifetime. He's had two in two years. The kicker on all this? SUV has been making unpleasant noises. Mechanic says it's the transmission, likely to fail soon, and to "not take it far out of town." Okayyyy, so is 121 miles (one way) "far out of town"? We may have to rent a car. We may get Botticelli's. |
