Well...

Youngest son gave the wife regular texted status reports as he crossed the Great Plains.

Except for one to tell us he'd arrived. I assume his new life rushed up to take up his time. And now... we shall see.

In other news, when we had the entire family here Friday night, we finally managed to get the 2009 Christmas letter finished, printed, and hand-signed by everyone. Meant ripping a brand new printer out of its box and setting it up (who the hell sells printers without printer cords?), but its done. Those of you on the mailing list (Hi Sis!) should be getting yours in Tuesday's mail.

And yes, Sis, we mailed one to Aunt D, too.

And in other "other" news... after a third viewing, the wife and I have decided there is no perfect place to sit for 3D effects in Avatar. We've tried in the middle of the theater, near the front, and dead center in the front row, now. In our theater, at least, there doesn't seem to be any spot where all of the effects are perfect.

But center of the front row seems to be best for the small object effects. We both jumped for the gas canister.

But still, if you haven't seen this film in a theater, go now before it is is gone.
