working on the new year
The call came just as I finished dicing up leftover ham into the heelers' dinner bowls.
Mmmmm. Pig meat, five nights in a row. The heelers are thrilled.
The caller is the wife, working late. The new year is off to a rough start.
"Do you mind if I stop by McDonald's and bring dinner home?" she asks.
"I'm getting kinda tired of ham..."
