scenic driving Over three hundred miles. All highway. Most of that empty and straight. Occasionally there would be some distraction, like a pair of black helicopters flying low down a ridgeline or other low flying aircraft. And I thought we were the only ones who flew that low (other than cropdusters). You could notice changes in the country. The late, late green, and the creek, rivers and reservoirs running nearly full. Near the end of the drive, there was the bug-killed forest. The salvage operations are nearly done. Leave the rest for a year or two for the firewood cutters to work on, and then they're supposed to reclaim the roads. But mostly it's the scenery... well, the scenery helps the time pass. Give it a try... see for yourself. |
