weighty catalog

I knew it was coming. Saw the twin stacks of them in the post office on Saturday, all waiting to be sorted to the appropriate mailboxes.

So I wasn't surprised to find one of the packages in our mail today. But who sends a catalog in a shipping box?

Well, Cabela's, of course.

And I can see why it's in a shipping box. But geeez, people!

It's just a catalog. Can you believe it?

Hard-bound!. Color indexed. Four centimeters thick (~ 1 3/4-inches). 1,416 pages. A college textbook of this size and printing caliber would cost $120-150, easy (trust me, I know).

One thousand, four hundred and sixteen pages of outdoor merchandizing heaven.

This says something about commercialization in modern America, but I'm not sure exactly what.

And yeah, I've already picked out my first purchase.
