reds and blacks in the west The end of the first day of our three thousand mile round trip to Puget Sound, as we chased after the sun... Interesting part was... those flat-topped hills ahead (in Idaho) looked just fine in the dim light of dusk as we whizzed past. When we passed by headed east seven days later, most of this country was freshly blackened by wildfire. Miles and miles of black, right up to the interstate fence. Went right along with the five or more different wildfires we saw on the drive home. Including the one in Oregon that shut down our highway and gave us a small detour. |
