tiny discoveries

One of the nice things about crawling around on the ground taking pictures of small flowers

is that you sometimes find things you never would have seen otherwise.

Like this shell fossil.

Okay, I knew these spiral shell fossils were somewhere up on that rim. Folks have shown me chunks of layered rock filled with them, and told me where they came from. But never seen one eroded out by itself before.

And agatized...

Really. A fossil made of agate.

Cool.

And it was while crawling around looking for small flowers

that I found some really tiny yellow ones.

And then, pink ones that were smaller still.

And then there was that red mite that I chased around a phlox plant as the ice melted off the blossoms... a Grouse Pic for a later date.
