wind fall

Just office work today. I would have enjoyed the training session on CWD sampling, but it was just too hard to justify the four hours of driving to learn what I already know.

First high point of the day? Going out in the back yard with the heelers to collect the wind fallen sloe under the wild plum trees. Only one has actually got any ripe fruit on it, and not enough that you can just grab handfuls and indulge yourself.

No, you have to pace yourself and savor each one. Limiting your take to what has already fallen on the ground.

With maybe an occassional light shake of the tree when it isn't being properly generous.

Second high point of the day?

Visiting with Melissa on the phone, while listening to the wind and rain in the background as Morgan made their final preparations for Ivan.

Never talked to anyone in the middle of a hurricane before.
