Spent most of the day at yet another auction. Hope to post some notes on the sale here tomorrow, assuming I have the time.

We're running the concession stand at the County Fair tomorrow. Gonna be kinda busy.

Oh, joy.

But the two main high points of the auction?

I got myself a Cutie-Pie. A Scintillator. What many folks would call a geiger counter. Doesn't work, of course, since there's no batteries. And 22.5V batteries are hard to come by these days.

But I have one, now. For the nostalgia and memories, mostly.

And if I want to sell it on eBay, I should make a little money in the process.

The other high point, also a purchase?

We got the ledger for the old, abandoned Strand Theater of our community, for 1925-1928. Hand written notes on each showing.

On this evening in 1928, they were showing Butter and Egg Man, starring Jack Mulhall. Cost them $50 for the film, and they sold 54 tickets for the 20-cent seats, and 136 of the 40-cent seats.

But that's not why we wanted this ledger, nor the four or five other ledgers in the box.

See, the wife had actually tried to read through these ledgers yesterday, as we scouted out the auction. And found a letter inside the frontispiece of this ledger.

A letter to the owner of the theater, promoting the show, "Glorifying the American Girl", that they were hoping to acquire. A typed letter, to be sure, but it is signed.
