It's a project that's been in the works for, literally, years.

Maybe even a decade, if not more. And always put off for one reason or another.

This year, it's implementation was dependent upon what folks found clear across the state.

And first we were on. Then we were off. As of early July, we were back on, depending upon what they saw in a special survey at the end of the month.

They flew that on the 31st. And first, it was a "no go" for this year.

But then that changed. Yesterday the email arrived. They'd looked at their numbers again, and the project was a go for this winter.

Which suddenly dumps a bunch of extra, urgent duties on my lap, right when everything else is already falling behind by a couple weeks or more.

Craaap.

Today, right after lunch, a phone call.

The project is delayed again. By at least a year. This time by one of the bosses in Capitol City.

I tried to sound disappointed.

And hey, he made the decision for all the right reasons, too.

Always a good thing.
