troubles in Kosovo Damn. Damndamndamndamndamn. We've been hearing about impending Kosovar independance for years now, haven't we? How can it come as a surprise to anyone, much less the Serbs? And we all watched the disintegration of Yugoslavia. The brutality and, yes, genocidal attacks of the Serbs. I mean, they're still finding mass graves in Bosnia, you know. Who wouldn't want to be independant of Belgrade? Certainly the Slovenians did. And the Croats. And the Bosnians (if such creatures exist). Then the Macedonians and finally the Montenegrans. Why wouldn't the Kosovars want to step apart? Now, I wasn't surprised the Serbs objected. And, of course, the Russians. But I was surprised that they called Kosovar Independance illegal. Illegal? So, I read UN Resolution 1244. All of it. Damn. Damndamndamndamndamn. Yeah. The Russians are right. The declaration of independance for Kosovo apparently is illegal under international law. It violates at least two different sections of that UN resolution. Damn. |
