catching electrons with electrons We weren't too sure if there would even be any fireworks. There was a massive, black cloud rotating above town as we left home. With occasional flashes of lightning. But once we passed through Shark's Tooth Ridge, we could see things were even worse to the west. Another large, black cloud settled in on the Continental Divide, with lightning dancing all along the Divide. I mean, who in his right mind is going to go stand out in the middle of a bunch of pyrotechnics with that going on? But the lightning flashes gave us easy entertainment as we sat and waited, parked behind Chuck's theater by his arsonized storage shed. (Not that it's Chuck's theater anymore. With both sons in college, he and his wife retired this spring. To Arkansas, of all places.) Yes, with the shutter delay of our digital cameras, there are many more empty frames than there are shots like this one: But hey, it's just wasting electrons to try to take pictures of electrons, right? It was still fun. |
