sunset at wagon bed spring Friday's meeting actually ended a little ahead of schedule. That just left the 307-mile drive home. Probably a six hour drive, if you don't tarry. I got home seven and a half hours after leaving the lodge. Yeah. I tarried. How and where is probably another entry. Or two. But I spent at least fifteen minutes here: For the hour it took to cross the wide valley between the two uplifts, I watched the western sky. Pretty plain. A few clouds to the north, but nothing likely to catch the coloured rays of sunset. But I forgot about our western wildfires. When the sky is full of smoky haze, you don't need clouds for colour. Checked the GPS for exact sunset time. I should just about make it to the top of the rim. And sure enough, after the long, straight climb, there I was. Hiked out on a lonely point of land by Wagon Bed Spring. Watching the sunset. |
