it's broke

Truck went in for servicing.

Thought it was just alignment, but it is worse. Much worse.

Is it a bad thing when the mechanic wiggles the front left tire back and forth by hand and tells you "We don't want to be legally liable for this being on the road?"

And isn't smiling when he says it.

Or his father says "It's really not worth your life, or someone else's."

So, the truck that four hours before was barreling down rutted dirt roads in the middle of nowhere at 60 mph now gets gingerly driven home at 55 mph on the interstate. And many calls are made, trying to arrange a spare vehicle. This one can't be fixed until at least Wednesday. We'd lose at least half of what is left of strutting season.

I got at least 10-11 mornings of lek work yet to do before that happens.

Interesting part was the mechanic's father telling me what the wife has planned for the now repaired Subaru that is in their back lot. And what has already been done with our old Explorer hulk.

He seems surprised to know he has talked with her for longer time than I in the past two days. I had no idea she was doing that.

Really.

And the high, high point of the day?

She and eldest son went to Botticelli's for dinner on their doctor's trip to Central City on Wednesday. Despite my forbidding of them to do any such thing on their last trip.

They brought home take-out!

The entire Italian section listed in the menu of our only local "Italian" restaurant is: spaghetti, lasagna, veal parmegiana, and chicken alfredo.

Really. Just those four entrees.

For an Italian restaurant. You can find better at the grocery store's frozen food section.

Thursday's dinner was reheated Botticelli's chicken marsala.

Mmmm.

Botticelli's.
