crunching pronghorn numbers Read the second number off the piece of paper, divide it by 300. Multiple it by either 12.5, 37.5, 75 or 150, depending upon which column the first number is in. Type that result into the first field on the screen, then enter the first number from the piece of paper. Repeat. A lot. This is all work that should have been done last summer, but got put aside for things other people (bosses) considered more pressing. And was forgotten. Until now, when we're trying to figure out what kind of hunting season we need to have this fall. And I'm wondering where the population estimate is for the antelope line transect survey we flew last spring. Well, gee, Grouse. You never did that analysis, remember? Answering emails was a relief today. Even if one of them was just typing more numbers. At least they were different numbers. Tomorrow morning, hopefully, I'll be done, and all these hundreds of little numbers will condense down into one big one. The bigger the better. |
