gonna need more blades According to researchers at the University of Kentucky, as reported by Maggie Fox at Reuters... "The muscles of deer affected by a mad cow-like disease carry the infectious prions that spread the illness, meaning that venison could potentially spread the agent to humans" Well. If that doesn't open up a whole can of worms. Yes, there is still no reason to believe, nor any case, that humans can actually catch a wasting disease from deer infected with CWD, even if they're exposed (as undoubtedly hundreds of thousands of people already have been over the past thirty-some years). But is there any doubt in your mind that folks are going to panic over this? Want to make any bets on how many requests to pull lymph glands from harvested deer I'm going to get this fall? Note to self: buy more scalpel blades. |
