run to town

Friday afternoon found me making a fast run into town, to the federal office to pick up yet another huge draft of an environmental impact statement for another coalbed methane project in my part of the world.

Roughly 1,240 wells for this one, they say.

Over 600 pages of document to read, review, check for accuracy or errors, and suggest improvements or mitigations that will improve the lot for wildlife during and after this 30-50 year project.

Oh, joy.

Not to mention the accompanying oversized book of 62 colour figures of charts and maps.

As EIS documents go, this is a pretty one.

As I headed up one of the main drags of town, across from the cemetery I got a reminder as to why we have so many deer living in town.

I mean, if you put a trough full of deer feed and treats out on your porch, they'll show up.

Every damn day.

Twice on Sundays, I'm sure.
