sunrise through the gap Alarm went off at 05:15 this morning. Just like it was supposed to. And I turned it off. Next I knew, the wife was letting the dogs outside, sometime after six o'clock. And reported all was wet with a light rain. Well, yeah, it was supposed to rain all day. Like it started to do last night. Suppose there's no hurry getting out to check hunters. Next I knew, it was nine-thirty, and the wife and heelers were having waffles for breakfast in bed, reading the Sunday paper (the wife, not the heelers). You know, this sleeping in on weekends is kind of nice. But it wasn't until almost one o'clock that I finally conceded it to myself. I ain't going to work today. And I didn't. Felt good. Now we got a snow advisory for our part of the state, the weather radar shows snow dumping on the mountains to the north, and that's where I need to be for another elk season opener dark and early tomorrow. Need to get to sleep. So here's yesterday's sunrise, peeking through the gap where a unit of cavalry, reinforced with women from the Temperance Movement, apprehended and dumped a wagon train full of whiskey back then in the 1800s. Really. |
