x marks the spot Well, here it is, tomorrow already. If you happen to be passing through and want to visit, here is where I'll be today. All day. All day tomorrow, too. Too bad they fenced off Tit Knob there, right across from my check station. If they hadn't, maybe I'd have something to watch to kill the time. Like the two Hispanic men that parked their truck, not at the top of the knob like most folks, and not at the bottom, but halfway up the steep side. Then turned up their Mexican radio to full blast (even on my side of the highway), and drank beer and danced for an hour. Or the young couple in the convertible, where the female's head disappeared in the male's lap for a while. Or the gold van that used to park at the top. Explained to me by a person in the know, to belong to a railroader. His wife would park up on that romantic spot in full view of the tracks so that her husband would know, as he headed out on his 30-some hour shift of duty on the rails, that she would be well entertained by someone while he was gone. Ouch. Me, I'll spend my ten or eleven hours on that spot drinking coffee, reading, doing the crossword, and checking hunters' antelope and sage grouse as they come in. |
