perseids (midnight shower) 13 in 23 minutes. Not bad for a meteor shower. About half of those were long and bright, spanning a quarter to a third of the sky. No clouds. Mosquitoes that never pestered until I was trying really hard to hold the camera still (got a couple dozen dark, blank shots). And 62 degrees. A brief visit by the wife and two heelers, hazed back into the house by mosquitoes, and the need to work tomorrow. But she saw one of the long, fiery ones. Right after blazing cometary dust number ten, a high, light shape appears straight overhead, and is gone to the south in almost no time. An owl. Again. As silent as can be. Now if only the flight can be so pleasant. |
