batman begins So, we saw Batman Begins last night. Chuck was surprised it took us so many nights to come in. In brief, a good film. Fairly predictable, as a prequel based on a comic book would have to be. And, by rights, we'd be mad if they tried to change much. But still some surprises, action and humour, and yes, drama (my eyes got wet at least twice). But only because, in the end, I worked really hard at that "suspension of disbelief". 'Cause folks, the great threat to Gotham that they gave us could never happen. Not even in comic books. Yes, we've had freezing rays (from a prequel Governor), and plant poisons, and even attack penguins. All a stretch of the imagination. But none that I can think of that violated basic laws of physics. In this case, for those who have seen the flick, please tell me... How does a microwave generator manage to vaporize water under city streets, without also vaporizing all the water in living tissues in (and, ummm, thereby killing) all the citizens and bad guys? |
