springtime on the Divide

Normally, Spring follows Winter.

But not always. Not on the Divide.

Spring's white blossoms under winter's white blanket.

The blanket is fairly thick, and still falling.

Burying the blooming daffodils, the grape, the golden banner. The lilacs preparing to bloom.

Replacing the gentle colours of spring with the hard patterns of winter.

This wasn't the only robin I spotted sitting in a snow-free space. I wonder what was going through his head. His mate is likely on eggs already, trying hard to keep them warm. Him, sent out to forage.

"Where the hell am I supposed to find a worm or bug in this?"

And still it falls...
