responses

Okay, okay, bb, I can take a hint. Yes, I've been negligent in responding to people's questions and comments, both here and by email.

And I ain't gonna do much about it tonight, either, since I've got leks to check in, ohhh, six hours or so.

But they're natural gas wells. Most of 'em. Got several dozen wells that are sucking methane off coalbeds in my country (soon to be several thousand), but the feds have decided that since methane is a gas, and it's natural, that now those, too, are "natural gas wells". Subject to the same regulations, which are considerably less than they would be if you treated them as a coal project.

That was actually an interesting lawsuit, 'cause the companies who had leased the coal were saying "that's our methane" because the BTUs come from coal, and the companies who had leases on the natural gas rights for the exact same piece of ground were claiming methane's a gas, "so it's our methane".

Gas companies won.

What a surprise.

And another response, since it's on my mind...

I agree with your husband. Bend the frame on a vehicle, and it's pretty much an unrepairable problem. Having been there with one of the outfit's rigs, a frame shop can re-align the frame, and even strengthen it by welding steel plate along the sides of the warp like a splint (called skunk plate), but the metal is fatigued now and remembers the bent shape. One minor little bump or jar, and it snaps back into warp.

And now I don't have to worry about an entry for today, and can go to bed.

As for the day, spent it all in a long meeting with the feds and gas companies. In what one participant described is probably an illegal gathering (and the instructors from Wash. DC that I had in Capitol City back in January would probably agree). This annual meeting went well and friendly, better than most. No great resolutions, no great plans.

But we're moving forward, slowly, so that is presumably to the good.
