As I mentioned in my email to the bosses this morning, the crew never chased a group of elk for more than a minute or two before they had a cow singled out and shot a net on top of her.

Pilot mentioned they only go after elk when they're running on flat ground, or uphill.

Too much momentum if the elk are charging downhill. Too much risk of harming an animal.

Something to bear in mind, next time you're hanging outside the open door of a helicopter chasing elk.
