sunrise number 18,628

Cloudy again. And damp. And horrifically windy.

The thought of staying in bed was tempting, I tell you.

But the masked heeler and I were off before sunup again, working the last weekend of our deer season north, as well as elk seasons in the same area. I had hopes that, once we got through the canyon, the sun might peek under the clouds, if only for a moment as it rose.

We weren't disappointed.

At first there was the narrowest gap of orange glow in the east, and then the colours burst through. For all of ten minutes and eight seconds, the bent pink, red and orange rays of sunlight darted under the overcast, lighting the bottoms of the clouds from the eastern horizon to the west.

For sunrise number 18,628, it wasn't bad at all. Even if a little brief.
