fun as it is

Flu.

Eight hours of meeting, punctuated with rapid trips to the toilet.

Home. Sleep. And more sleep. 7-Up and more 7-Up.

And that's enough for one day.

Okay, so it's not enough for a day. Some of the better lines from the meeting:

"I had a question, but don't want to show my bias that bad."

Someone apparently also spent part of the holidays playing cards with relatives, as his comment on sage grouse nesting habitat revealed... "mapped habitat trumps circles." (Oh, and Trin, we're mainly a Pitch playing clan, with occassional Hearts or 500.)

The meetings this week have been run by consultants, with a moderator, one fellow running the projected document and keeping records of all changes and items set aside for later, and a third running the projected GIS maps. Thursday's session began with the moderator pointing out the secretary guy had burned a cd of all our changes last night, just so we could keep on working in case he died from exhaustion.

"After a brief moment of silence," of course.

One fellow was here for his first day, having been tied up elsewhere for the first part of the week. Kept bringing up questions and comments on things the group had settled days before. Finally, as the last afternoon wore on, he raised his hand with yet another concern. When called upon, he tiredly changed his mind. "I don't really care, any more."

"And you've only been here one day," was the too loud response.

The last couple hours were spent going through the "Bin", the seven pages of contentious or niddling items that had been set aside during the previous three and a half days. Someone pointed out the note "not a SRMA, no more" was a double negative.

"That's why we keep him in the mapping section."

And one of the last comments, as the end time was approaching...

"Let's not get too much into the editing, fun as it is."
