snowed out It snowed yesterday evening. Not much, just enough to dust everything with white. Supposed to get several inches overnight, and then more today. Didn't happen. Just the same dusting when the heeler sisters and I got out to the truck this morning. So, off we went. But once away from the trees, the wind was whipping. Visibility was only a couple reflector posts by the time we hit Sharks' Tooth Ridge. The heelers, of course, did not care. The masked one had settled in against my hip, her head on my leg as she slept through the drive. The little maskless heeler, as is her norm, was nervously watching the highway from the front passenger seat, and shivering from the cold. But we continued on. Been lots of times when the weather was nasty at home on the Divide, and clear as a bell out in the desert. As we neared town, NPR interrupted their war coverage with the state highway report. The interstate immediately behind us was closed. That explains the absence of semis. The interstate in front of us was recommended "No Unnecessary Travel." Is checking sage grouse strutting grounds necessary? Not today. Heelers ran immediately into the bedroom to enjoy the warmth of the bed with the Alpha and their Mom. And here I am. Got an "Open House" scheduled this afternoon to discuss hunting season proposals with the local townsfolk. Bet the bosses don't make it down, and we'll be on our own. |
