Seminoe opener No time for a real entry tonight. Another elk season opened, so it was a long day (pre-sunrise to well after sunset). Not to mention I was up to almost one o'clock in the morning finishing up the sage grouse database so it could finally be emailed to the folks that need it. So quick thoughts on the day: Leaves in the Seminoes are the best I have ever seen. Aspen are all gorgeous, running from bright green to yellow to gold to iridescent orange and red all in the same stands. And, rather than changing and dropping on a different schedule, the willows and cottonwoods are all bright yellow as well. Lots of pictures. Over 150 today. Still need to download them so I can use the camera for the next elk opener, which is in about seven hours (need sleep). Taught a Californian how to gut an elk. (Hands smelled like cow elk the rest of the day.) Gave the heelers lots of exercise. Forced three hunters to move their camp. Visited my jade boulder. Long, pleasant visit with a rancher's widow. Ate snow. A good day. |
