sidewalk poop & data gripes

Not much to say for today.

Did force the heeler Mom to get off her duff and accompany me and her daughters to the post office this am. First time in months.

She retaliated by taking a dump on the sidewalk just north of the PO. While walking, barely breaking stride.

And forcing me to gather up a shovel at home and return to remove the offending object from our neighbor's sidewalk. Smiling from the front porch all the while.

But the exercise was apparently good for her. While out this evening, as I was moving sprinklers, she came over and did the "head low, front legs spread wide, butt waggin', I want to play" maneuver. To me. Hasn't done that for years.

Otherwise, spent the day entering sage grouse lek observations into the database system. And cursing co-workers and fellow wildlifers who do not know how to read a map, do not know how to convert UTMs into legal descriptions without making an error, and do not understand that counts that are supposed to be done weekly should not instead be spaced 15 and 13 days apart. Thereby negating the value of all the early mornings they spent out in the sage.

And why, oh why, do some people have to go out to count grouse in groups of two or three? Think of the manpower waste. Surely the guy who drove the truck is also capable of using binoculars to count grouse? I understand the enjoyment of having company when drinking coffee, eating donuts and counting grouse, but they have lots of trucks. If these people had split up, we'd have three times the data.

Okay, rant over.

Need to get some sleep. Trip to Central City for wife's Dr's appointment (just to check stitches, mainly) first thing tomorrow. Then WalMart.
