abandoned again

Home alone again.

I feel like a heeler. Left at home while the rest of the pack goes hunting.

Wife, youngest son, godson and godson's mother went shopping this afternoon. For Confirmation clothes for the two teens. We suspected there might not be anything suitable in town, and discussed a trip to Wal-Mart and other shopping opportunities in University Town.

Not quite 100 miles away.

Well, it took them almost four hours of shopping in our community to decide that that is what they need to do. So they're off to University Town. And dinner. And kindly stopped by to see if I wanted to go along.

Squeezed in between the two teens in the back of the Explorer (Godson's mother damaged her neck this week, and needs the headrest of a bucket seat. And besides, she's the one who would be talking to wife for most of the trip.) for an hour and a half.

And we should take the heelers, just to keep them out of trouble and safely with us.

Five people and three heelers in a 5-seat SUV for 100 miles?

I think not.

Snidely asked wife, as she stood in the office doorway, if godson's mother could stand to make that long drive without a cigarette (no way anyone smokes in our places (sorry, Bad, but it's true)). Godson heard, and his mother was at the top of the stairs later, so she may have heard as well.

Tough. They know how I feel about it.

Not to mention, with lek surveys that need to be done tomorrow morning, an expected return time of midnight or later would not be wise.

So, anyway, the three heelers and I are here, home alone again.

I know they will be grateful for my company when dinnertime arrives.

Did ask the wife to look for the Lord of the Rings soundtrack for me (yes, we already have two copies in the house, but I want the one with Liv on the cover). Wife already had that in mind.

So, I'm back to trying to catch up on diaries...
