Carini's III After checking ourselves into a motel on Saturday, we headed to Carini's for dinner again. Got seated by Carini himself (a huge, jovial bald guy). Had a live violinist playing again, although this male player was no where near as attractive as the gal playing last time. He was good, but you could tell the hour and a half of playing was wearing on him. Just had prime rib on Thursday, so opted for the shrimp and scallops alfredo. Good. Spent most of the dinner watching and eavesdropping on the next table, behind a slatted partition. A young couple with their ~2-year old boy, getting him acquainted with the father's Mom. Fun watching the dynamics between the daughter-in-law and grandmother. And hearing all the progress reports on the oblivious little boy. Almost like peeking in on a diary. The live music ends at 20:00. As the violinist was packing up, the young couple sent the little boy over with several bills to tip the "man". But he got sidetracked by Carini coming out of the kitchen, and ran over to hand him the bills. "What's this for? For being fat and bald?" was the owner's loud response. Who then steered the little tipper to the violinist. We were the last ones out. Little maskless heeler was quite disappointed that no one brought prime rib scraps. But she got a double cheeseburger all to herself on the way to the motel, so we were forgiven. |
