power guillotine

So Saturday a.m. was spent packing for the trip to my folks' in Colorado. Shuffling outgoing suitcases and boxes around all the incoming boxes and suitcases from eldest son's return from college.

Thank the powers that he had the foresight (or luck?) to have enough clean clothes for the trip. Plenty of laundry to do, but none that had to be done before we could go (I, on the other hand, realized that none of my good blue jeans survived the hunting seasons in that condition, so I quickly washed and dried a new pair...)

Fairly uneventful drive (yes, the wife drove it all). Cold but dry roads for most of it.

When we slowed down in University Town, of course the heelers had to have a window open to smell. Had both sisters on my lap, heads hanging out, when their mother decided she had to charge in to get her head outside also.

And in the process stepped on the power window button.

Jamming the window up against her daughters' throats. Could not reach the button through all the dog legs on the door, and could only scream at the wife, who finally figured out what the problem was and overrode my window from the driver's controls.

Needless to say, the heeler sisters were no longer eager to jump on my lap whenever we slowed down.

And of course, they shot blaming glares at me, not their mother.

Hate power windows. And power locks, too. For the simple reason that heelers can inadvertently open or close them, either of which could be life threatening. The new truck coming for the outfit is supposed to not have power windows (I went out of my way to not request the accessories that would automatically throw it into the XLT package.).
