portrait prints

I've got three entries for today. Two of them are only in my head, but already largely laid out.

They're both downers, and I do not want to write them. At least not today. Even though one should be written on 30 November.

The third is already written, but would probably be hurtful, even though I tried not to be. So it will not come to the screen either.

So that leaves the little event from yesterday.

After the masked heeler's vet appointment yesterday, her sister and mother also got to go in to see the Doc. One for a small foot injury that has been slow healing, the other for a loooong-term skin condition.

They both need Neosporin+, so it was off to the grocery store. The gal bagging at my checkout looked up and said "I know you! You're the guy with the dogs!"

I figured she had been through my check station sometime, but she knew we had three heelers, and the mother rarely comes out for boring check station duty.

Turns out she saw our picture in their store last weekend. The gal at the digital portrait studio spent the weekend in the grocery mart promoting her holiday specials. And used us as some of her demo displays.

This was before we got copies of our pics, or even saw hard copies.

When I told the wife, she jokingly asked, "I didn't sign a release, did you?"

We have had portraits taken at an Olde Tyme portrait store in Jackson Hole on more than several occasions (I was a cowboy and she a honky-tonk "lady" on our honeymoon shot, and our first Christmas cards as a married couple), and that store also used several of our shots over the years for displays in their window, without permission. Quite flattering, but other than the one with a real small eldest son, I think they were mainly selected because of the heelers.

Wife also wondered which pose they used. The one with the four of us in the Grouse family, or the one that included her godson. The two of them often run errands together (she picks him up after work, and then goes shopping before bringing herself and him home), so she suspects there are folks in the community who wonder if he is ours.

Or at least hers.

And apparently it was the dogs that were a hit again in this store. Just heard wife get home, and she said she would finally pick up the prints, so I guess I will go up and see what all the rest of the people in town have already seen.

(Hey, guess what? She just brought the prints down. Good shots of the heelers. Gotta go, the pizza is ready.)
