bad and good day

Most of today was not a good day. Trying to get the sage grouse reports done that were due back in July, and got extended to the end of August.

And then the end of September.

Tried working the databases and found tons of data that needs to be added or replaced, because of changes in reporting procedures.

We're talking data going all the way back to 1981 here.

Boss said to tell the wife there is no trip to see eldest son this weekend unless the reports are done.

They're not gonna be done. I'm either going to piss off my wife or my boss.

Now, we're officially not allowed to work more than 259 hours a month. I'm already well over 270 so far for September. And wife is dying to see her first born.

You know what I'm going to do, but the consequences won't be pleasant.

Also need to get my wings read. One full bag of wings that have been rotting in the back of the truck, in thehot back of the truck, for four days now. Would prefer to get them read before the maggots get too large.

Or before they eat enough of the wings that the feathers fall off.

And wife wanted an early start tomorrow. Ain't gonna happen.

On the good side.

The wife is home. Got back to the office mid-afternoon, and I had to go pick her up at 5.

As we were heading through the door to the stairwell, she jokingly suggested we should have taken the elevator "so we could neck."

Her words, not mine.

Drug her back out through the doors and into the elevator. But only managed one brief kiss (hey, it's only two and a half floors).

But the heelers are glad she's home. Little one still misses her boy. But she's going along to SoDak, so at least she will know where he is.
