Yes, it is remarkable enough to have any period of any day in this country that is without wind. Perhaps why I am so fascinated with reflective waters.

But it is even more remarkable to find huge bodies of water undisturbed by little feet. Just one little grebe paddling across a lake can disturb the surface for five to ten minutes, or more. And this time of year, every body of water seems to be populated by migrants flying from one lake or pond to the next as they cross the desert.

And yet, here it was.
