scone run My apologies to my daughter-in-law. And to the wife. I posted that photo on Facebook on a whim. I was showing it to the wife, saw the "Share" button, and thought, why not? Well, because seeing a plate piled high with scones just naturally and predictably made eldest son crave such baked treats. And so he called this afternoon, mentioned his wife would be in town to "visit with her mom". (This, we find, was a lie. Yes she visited with her mom today, but that was over lunch in University Town. His wife had absolutely no need or plan to then follow her mom 90+ miles home so that they could visit again.) Aaaanyway, since his wife was "coming over anyway", could my wife bake some scones to send back with her for them to enjoy? (Seeing as how his wife had never tasted any, and did not recognize them in the photo.) After getting his mother's agreement to bake both regular and dessert scones, he then talked to his wife and mentioned his mother was baking scones "just for him", and could she please drive 90+ miles to pick them up? So yes, our daughter-in-law is here right now, visiting with the wife as I type. Having driven 90+ miles in the rain for freshly baked, made-by-Mom's-hands scones. And sometime tonight, she and the corgi will load up and drive the return trip of another 90+ miles. Just to deliver scones. I should have known. I need to be more careful in what I post on Facebook... |
