***saving space - burying the past Burying the Past = Mountain Meadow Massacre full theater, Brian Patrick there link to wikipedia = link to google map = "The film explores issues of forgiveness, reconciliation, and religious intolerance with the descendants from all sides of this massacre." but the gist of it all is, only one man has shown any "forgiveness". And his may have been tested when the Mormon backhoe dug up the bones of his murdered ancestors. Someone may need to explain to the Church there can be no reconciliation without atonement first, and that takes accepting responsibility. Interesting to compare Wikipedia with the film, the second making no mention of the 18th young survivor (the Mormons killed all over 6 years of age) who was _not_ returned to her Arkansas family, and instead was kept and raised as a Mormon in Utah. Presumably, like the other 17, with the family of one of the men who murdered her own. |
