playing by the weather And so, we wait. Two-thirty in the afternoon finds us sneaking out early from a meeting. "Gotta go catch sheep!" There are more than a few looks of envy from around the table. But both our phones have missed calls waiting on them, and a quick check lets us know. There's a delay. One of the helicopters (We're going to be using two. At the same time. Sounds risky, whizzing past each other up there in the mountains, but that's the plan.) was supposed to be catching elk this morning, but got grounded by fog. So, if they can get up this afternoon and capture and collar ten elk before dark, we may still be on for tomorrow morning. We'll just start later, as we wait for the birds to fly halfway across the state. Which means we still need to jump into a truck and make the six-hour drive to the trapping area tonight. Or maybe just some town in between. If not, we're home tonight and play it all by ear tomorrow. -- News flash... the call came. They're done with elk, so we're on the road. Bye. |
