Finally getting around to looking at some more of our photos from the Yellowstone country from September...

In other news, spent a fair amount of time this morning crawling on my hands and knees with a flashlight with youngest son in the bathroom.

Looking for mercury. Yeah, good old, toxic Hg. Hunting and extracting tiny, tiny little silver balls of liquid metal hidden in the tile grout, and hallway carpeting. Herding tiny balls together to make slightly bigger balls.

Little metal balls so small they could hide on the other side of the point of a pin. Not the head of a pin, mind you.

The point.

Yeah, he broke a thermometer. The last of our antique mercury thermometers from when he was a little boy.

As I explained to him, nowadays we treat this stuff as hazmat.

When I was a kid, we used to play with it. Including trying to boil it on light bulbs.
