working for a harsh master It took five hours to finish up. Two of which were terribly hot. Not that pleasant when the asphalt under your feet is melting. Of course, that's not counting lunchtime at our favorite local Mexican restaurant. (That makes three meals there in a week... I suspect a personal record. I tried for a fourth at dinner time, but only managed one of their dessert sopapillas.) But our garageshed has a brand spanking new roof. You could even call it shiny, since the wife repainted the trim that runs across the crest a bright copper color before we put it back on. But way too good of a roof for the building below it. I suggested to the wife that we lift the roof, and build a new garage underneath. I spent more time on the roof than I had expected. Way more than planned. But if the boss had spoken to me the way he spoke to his friend, I would have stormed off and quit, too. In fact, I would not have stuck around and taken as much abuse as she did. He maybe needs to take an anger management course. Again. Really. To me, however, he was completely polite. I guess it helps to be married to the bookkeeper who pays the bills. |
