reservation confirmations

To any of you in the reservation business...

If you absolutely, positively need someone to send you confirmation of their credit card numbers, do not put

"Reservation confirmation. DO NOT REPLY>"

in the email subject line.

The idiots managing reservations in Yellowstone NP did that with the emails they sent back to us. And since it obviously meant the reservations were confirmed, the wife didn't even bother to open them.

Until this week.

They were sent early in May.

Inside the emails, however, we were dismayed to find were threats that our reservations would be canceled in 48 hours if we did not provide confirmation of the credit card numbers.

Craaap.

That was weeks ago!

Those were for a night in the Snow Lodge at Old Faithful (a third choice, true, but all that was available by May) and a night at Canyon.

And they weren't for us.

They were for the kids' honeymoon. (Our treat.)

Double craaap.

The wife was, well, livid.

And immediately made whatever Yellowstone reservations she could for those two nights. Which were only available at Grant Village.

Grant Village. Nice, but nothing like staying at either Old Faithful or Lake. Or even Canyon.

Craap.

Well, my wife is nothing if not persistent. She began checking Yellowstone reservations twice a day, hoping for any cancellations.

And today, she got two.

The kids will be honeymooning in the Old Faithful Inn.

And yeah, the wife let the staff know they will be newlyweds.

And yeah, she let them know what she thought of their emails.

Even though, thanks to those poorly worded emails, things will be even better than before.
