postponing easter Another shot of Saturday's sunrise. As for today? Well, the daylong snowstorm they predicted for us failed to materialize. At all. There was rain at three-fifteen this morning, when the masked heeler woke me to go outside, so no lek surveys. But nothing that would have kept us from traveling. It was a warm, sunny day here. The kind of Easter we almost never had when our boys were young enough for Easter egg hunts. 'Course, there were crappy, snow-covered highways between us and where we would want to go on this holiday, so we were sill wise to stay. But it was kinda melancholy. Our Easter dinner had all the fixin's, except the cranberry and green stuff salads, and way more than we could hope to even dent, much less eat. But without even the youngest son to share it with, it was a pleasant, but empty, dinner. So. Is this what we have to look forward to? I asked the wife. "Maybe." Depends on where the sons eventually settle. But next Sunday, when neither eldest son nor his future bride have to work, and youngest son isn't visiting the mystery female a hundred miles away, we will have a proper family dinner. |
